From our humble beginnings as Dunwoody & Co.—what grew to be one of the largest professional services firms in Canada started with a single entrepreneur with a dream.
We know the challenges small businesses face, because we started out as one. We know the growing pains of the mid-market, because we’ve been there, too. And we know what it means to become an enterprise, because that’s how we transformed.
As Canadian markets shifted over the last 100 years, we adapted to the changes and evolved accordingly. As talent pools grew wider and deeper, we grew with them. We’ve built a culture that’s rooted in values of collaboration, inclusivity, and helping people achieve their dreams.
As the digital age progressed, we moved with it. From the second phase of the industrial revolution, to the internet age, to predictive technology and artificial intelligence—we take pride in harnessing what we’ve learned over the years to be a firm of the future.
One person started this journey by helping clients with their accounting—recognizing the value of people from day one. From our internal teams, to clients, and communities—we so proudly celebrate the people who continue to make us who we are today, 10 exceptional decades later.
As we celebrate BDO’s 100th year, we’ll be uncovering all the milestones, accomplishments, and exceptional moments of our history. What started as a single entrepreneur with a dream grew to be one of the largest professional services firms in Canada.
We’ve come a long way from our first office in Winnipeg, Manitoba—expanding across the country into new geographies and new markets—growing our collective talent pool, community, and expertise.
